Keys to a Successful Store Launch

This article provides an overview of the key requirements for Otter onboarding, including store information, delivery platform credentials, tablet setup, and order testing to ensure a smooth connection between Otter and the POS.

Gather Store Information

To help speed up the onboarding process, please have the following information ready:

  • Basic store information
  • Billing and payment information
  • Login credentials for each delivery platform

Please verify each login directly with the respective delivery platform before submitting the credentials.

Verify Delivery Platform Credentials

Each delivery platform generally requires one login, with the exception of Uber Eats.

Uber Eats requires two accounts:

Admin Account

Tablet Account

Prepare the Tablet

A tablet is required to use Otter's service.

  • You may lease a tablet from Otter or use your own.
  • Any supported iPad or Android device can be used.
  • The tablet must be able to access app.tryotter.com.

NOTE: Do not use delivery platform tablets from Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, or other delivery services. These devices may restrict browser access and prevent you from accessing app.tryotter.com.

Begin Store Testing

Once the Vela team confirms that the store is ready for testing, the store should already be receiving orders through app.tryotter.com.

Manual Order Acceptance

If the store is set to manually accept orders:

  1. Confirm that orders are appearing on the tablet through app.tryotter.com.
  2. Accept an order.
  3. Confirm that the accepted order is sent to the POS.

Automatic Order Acceptance

If the store is set to automatically accept orders:

  1. Confirm that orders are appearing on the tablet through app.tryotter.com.
  2. Confirm that the orders are automatically being sent to the POS.

Report Issues

If you encounter any issues during onboarding or testing, please report them to the Vela team so we can assist with troubleshooting.
