Understanding the Menu Structure is essential before creating and configuring a menu in VeronaPOS. The system uses a hierarchical structure, similar to many other POS programs, where each level organizes the menu and determines how items are displayed and accessed.
The menu structure follows this hierarchy:

Menu List
The Menu List is the top level of the menu structure. Users can create as many menus as needed, allowing them to maintain different versions or sets of menus within the POS.
For example, separate menus can be created for different concepts, locations, or menu versions.
Department List
The Department List, also known as the Screen List, contains the multiple screens that make up a menu. Departments are commonly used to separate different menu sections or service periods, such as Lunch and Dinner.
Each department acts as a screen that employees can access when taking an order.
Category
Each Department contains multiple Categories. Categories are used to group related menu items and organize them within the department screen.
For example, a department may contain categories such as Appetizers, Entrées, Desserts, or Drinks.
Item
Items are the individual products or menu offerings available for ordering. Items are assigned to a Category and are displayed under that category when it is selected.
This structure keeps the menu organized and makes it easier for employees to quickly locate and select the appropriate items during a sale.
