What Do Employees Need to Know

This article provides an overview of the key order management tasks employees and managers need to know when using Otter, including order acceptance, pausing orders, cancellations, and the websites used to manage orders.

Order Acceptance

Employees must understand the difference between manually and automatically accepting orders.

Manual Order Acceptance

  • Employees must accept the order from the Otter tablet.
  • After accepting the order on the tablet, they must select the confirmation button that appears on the POS to complete the order acceptance.

Automatic Order Acceptance

  • Orders are automatically accepted and sent to the POS without requiring manual confirmation.

Pausing Orders

When the store is receiving more orders than it can handle, employees can pause orders directly from the Otter tablet.

  • Employees can pause a specific delivery platform.
  • They can also pause orders from all delivery platforms.
  • Employees should know how to use this option when the store becomes too busy to keep up with incoming orders.

Canceling Orders

Employees must understand that canceling an order through Otter does not automatically cancel the order on the POS.

  • Orders must be manually canceled or voided through the POS.
  • Employees should verify that the order has been properly canceled on the POS.

Otter Websites

Employees and managers should be familiar with the appropriate Otter website for managing orders.
